DescriptionFull-time position to with specific oversight of MDS coordination and staffdevelopment. Ensures the initiation, coordination and completeness of theMDS (minimum data set), which includes the assessment and evaluation ofthe quality of emotional, mental and physical care provided to the long-termcare residents at Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center. provides guidance toall staff members involved int he completion of the MDS and care plans. Alsoassumes responsibility for staff development requirements for the staffmembers on long-term care. Develops and coordinates on-the-job training andcontinuing education including coordinating the orientation process for newhires. Provides processes to ensure mandatory annual education, regulatoryand competency requirements are met. Required to participate in the rotationprocess of Administrative Call for the department.

RequirementsBachelor s Degree in Nursing is required. Licensed Registered Nurse isrequired. minimum of one year of previous work experience ingeriatric/gerontological nursing. MDS certified or obtain certificationwithin six months of assignment to MDS Coordinator role is required. Computerapplications work experience is preferred.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
Promotes the mission, vision and values of SPRHC.
Organizes, coordinates, implements and evaluates the MDS process.
Assists with providing an orientation schedule to all nursing personneland ensures nursing skill competencies are conducted on hire and annually.
Assists with establishing goals and objectives in planning a comprehensiveeducational program for LTC staff members.
Supports and implements resident care program established with completionof the MDS and the guidance of an interdisciplinary care planning team.
Works with the Office of Human Resources to submit and review trackingsystems for licensure renewals, CPR certification, Education Olympics,CEUs, and testing deadlines for Nurse Aides.
Assists with planning continuing education programs in accordance withState, Federal, VA requirements and to meet the needs of LTC employees.
Utilizes a variety of methods to evaluate in-service programs and itseffect on quality of care.
Conduct personal resident interviews for mood, cognition, preferencesof activities and customary routine and pain. Brief Interview for MentalStatus (BIMS Assessment) will be conducted and if resident does notsuccessfully complete survey, employee interviews will be conducted foradditional input.
Provides the interdisciplinary care plan team a schedule of when MDS needto be completed.
Perform other functions as required to fulfill the expectations of theNurse Manager role.
