  Hours: 40 hours, 7am-3:30pm

  Description

  The Nuclear Medicine Technologist III provides quality care to the patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures.

  Assists with development of education materials.

  Keeps patient and families abreast of patient's progress.

  Assumes responsibility and provides direct care for the complex patients receiving Nuclear Medicine and PET exams.

  Performs efficiently in emergency situations.

  Assists and performs multiple Nuclear Medicine exams in appropriate timeframe.

  Provides more complex technical care to ensure high quality images.

  Coordinates in supervisor's absence and orients others to coordinator's role.

  Responsible for staff call and room rotation schedules.

  Provides secondary leadership for day-to-day operations.

  Coordinates daily procedure schedules, works with staff, physicians and ancillary services on daily workflow.

  Participates in performance improvement data collection.

  Works independently and can coordinate in Level IV's absence.

  Operates and is accountable for safe operation all diagnostic equipment, including Scintillation Cameras, PET Scanners, Uptake Probes, Well Counters, Dose Calibrators and GM Meters.

  Troubleshoots equipment problems and advises supervisor of equipment malfunctions.

  Works with supervisory staff to ensure the appropriate supplies are available.

  Responsible for completing all aspects of patient care documentation following the established charting procedure.

  Assists with revisions of patient and operational forms.

  Enters procedures in Radiology Information System to ensure billing of exams/procedure.

  Can participate on safety committee.

  Provides assistance to staff in recognizing and managing more involved exams; serves as resource for staff and students on equipment operation.

  Serves as preceptor for new staff and students.

  Assists in identifying staff education needs.

  Can serve on education committee.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology, be registered in Nuclear medicine with the ARRT or the Nuclear medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).

  CPR certification required.

  Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience with one (1) year in area of concentration.

  Coordinates in supervisors absence.

  Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

  ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
