The main purpose of the role:
Sustaining has primary responsibility for leading program management efforts for on-market sustaining activities in the Infectious Diseases portfolio. This includes determining business case for requested on market changes, budgets, scope, and risks for future and existing platforms, products, and features. Partakes in periodic reviews with leadership to manage the pipeline efficiently. Works cross-functionally with core team and functional managers to ensure that programs meet objectives and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Personally leading at least 1 Major ongoing on-market sustaining activity and/or PMO activity (Ongoing market requests / PMO management.
Translating strategies into program/project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements; Continually tracks progress against those plans
Responsible for all reporting activities associated with program, responsible for collecting and collating all inputs from cross-functional teams to support project reviews with leadership and relevant stakeholders
Determining and managing appropriate governance structure for program
Guiding functional workstream leads (project managers) to identify and escalate project risks and communicate status to internal and external stakeholders
Establishing and leading proactive, transparent, and effective communications cadence to ensure timely dissemination of information with the senior leadership team, program/project teams, and matrix stakeholders
Completing capacity assessment (people, financial measures) and ability to meet plans and timelines. Highlights gaps and resolves with functional leaders
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is required in a related Engineering field or related technical discipline.
Progressively responsible experience in engineering or related technical discipline.
Must have a minimum of 8 years of experience in leading projects in a medical device, bio-medical or high technology industry.
Exceptional project management skills, with proven ability to clearly define objectives and priorities, establish milestones, anticipate and mitigate risks, and lead cross-functional teams to meet and exceed goals in a dynamic environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail and quick recall.
An approachable and credible communication style, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, to keep all levels of the organization informed, engaged, and motivated.
Skilled change agent with experience aligning a geographically dispersed project team around strategy and creating a sense of urgency to execute the strategy and deliver on commitments.
Intellectual agility - able to pivot based on shifting priorities and balance multiple projects seamlessly in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent collaboration skills - able to navigate complex matrix within the Business Unit and the broader Abbott organization to ensure alignment of priorities and partnership throughout program execution.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
Commercial background, multiple languages a plus – Prefer extensive medical device industry experience
OUS experience is preferred
