JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Orthopedics is recruiting for anexperienced PA/NP to join 14 Orthopedic Surgeons and 20 PA/NP\'s onstaff. This person will work closely with one orthopedic surgeon andcollaboratively with another midlevel colleague. Major area of focuswould be adult reconstruction and sports medicine with an emphasis onshoulder and elbow surgery. Basic duties may include: OR equipmentset-up, first assisting, rounding with in-patients, emergencyevaluations, post-op checkups, outreach duties and general clinicpractice. The PA/NP will support the assigned surgeon with histories,physicals, casting, splinting, evaluations, treatment planning andpost-op care. This role will work cooperatively with athletic trainers,physical therapists, nurses and support staff and share call equally. AWisconsin license and completion of an accredited Physician Assistant orNurse Practitioner program is required. Level II Trauma Center SharedCall The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)performs thefunctions of examining, assessing, planning, and implementing the healthcare of assigned patients under a licensed physicians supervision anddirection. The Orthopedic PA/NP secures patient histories, performsphysical examinations, orders laboratory tests, develops and implementstreatment plans, performs diagnostic and treatment procedures, recordsfindings, and provides patient education and counseling to enhance oureffectiveness in providing routine therapeutic health care in the areaof musculoskeletal disorders.
