  Position Summary: Under the General supervision of the Manager and technical guidance of the department MT/MLS, performs general laboratory testing in the various sections of the laboratory, performs control testing and initiates troubleshooting steps for problem areas. Performs chemical, histochemical, or morphological analysis on specimens using laboratory using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods, and microscopy after completion of clinical practicums in the appropriate areas. If in a student role, all paid duties must be performed outside of regular scheduled academic hours.

  Qualifications

  Experience: Clinical training in school of Medical Technology for the areas to be worked

  Education HS Equivalent or GED and enrolled in an accredited School of Medical Laboratory Technology with clinical training in progress in this lab, with plans to complete an Associate in Medical Lab Technology or certification by a nationally recognized agency as a MLT.

  Physical Requirements : Light Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert up to 15 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
