Job Summary
Operate as part of a team of professionals that is responsible for the 24x7 availability of Geisinger's 30,000+ node, 150+ site converged voice & data network. Responsible for implantation of vision, strategy, design, implementation, support, and highest-level troubleshooting of the organization’s 30,000+ nodes, 150+ site, Cisco-based LAN/WAN/WLAN and associated systems under direction from Architecture team. Responsible for the work of others, including the technical supervision of junior staff.
Job Duties
Determine equipment and material requirements based on approved design
Determines Infrastructure Change Management risk.
Supervises tier 1 / 2 / 3 upgrades and updates
Resolve issues Triage engineers have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness with knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g., Python, Power Shell)
Mentor team members on technical issues
Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g., access authentication and disaster recovery)
Maintain complete technical documentation
Identify and manage improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability
Demonstrated experience in the processes of verifying normal service after all scheduled repairs or upgrades.
Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing errors in equipment.
Demonstrate experience of network management tools, procedures, and methods to repair network equipment and systems.
Demonstrated experience of transmission control protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP), open systems interconnection (OSI) model, and optical networking.
Demonstrated experience of network design, devices, network appliances, network architecture, routing protocols and network topology.
Demonstrated experience in one or more sub-specialties of Networking (I.e. Security/firewalling, voice/communications, wireless, Data Center infrastructure , cloud, etc.) and perform duties as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one of those disciplines
