Robert Half is seeking a Network Engineer for an onsite position in the Concord, MA area.. Responsibilities:
Manage and operate the telecommunications networks and associated fiber optic infrastructure for a municipal broadband service provider and the broader municipality.
Deliver enterprise voice/data services and high-speed internet to commercial and residential customers.
Configure, document, and monitor network equipment including routers, switches, network management systems, DHCP, DNS, BGP, and OSPF.
Maintain and expand the network through upgrades, reconfigurations, and new installations.
Troubleshoot and resolve network issues related to routers, switches, GPON equipment, Wi-Fi, firewalls, and network management systems.
Collaborate with network technicians and IT staff to implement service offerings and provide technical support to broadband customers.
Research and evaluate new broadband technologies and potential partners.
Serve as a technical contact for external telecom service providers.
Review and implement plans for network maintenance, upgrades, and expansions.
Coordinate hardware and software upgrades.
Track and report service levels for commercial telecommunications services.
Participate in on-call rotation for network and IT services.
Assist with fiber optic emergencies and other network restoration activities.
Collaborate with the town IT department on implementing voice and data applications on the Town's network.
Design and implement small special networks for Town departments and commercial customers.
Research and recommend telecommunications business partners and technology solutions.
Assist with selecting and applying telecom products and technology for various applications.
Perform special projects and other assigned duties.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in telecommunications and broadband network design and operations.
Network certification like CCNA or equivalent highly desirable.
Technical experience with fiber optics, various wireless and wired network technologies.
Familiarity with Calix or other broadband hardware and software preferred.
Layer 3 (TCP/IP, BGP, VoIP, OSPF) and Layer 2 (VLANs, Link Aggregation, STP) networking experience required.
Knowledge of technical standards and environment surrounding telecommunications and internet service provisioning.
Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop solutions.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
