Description

　　Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking to hire a highly motivated Network Development Engineer for our Network Operations team in China. In this role, you will drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks, and create innovative ways to scale our network as we grow.

　　The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of technical leadership and success in driving complex issues to resolution. The successful candidate will demonstrate in-depth knowledge of network engineering, concepts, and best practices, with operational experience in supporting a large-scale service provider or environment. As a technical leader, you will manage complex stakeholder relationships (with both internal customers and external vendors) as we continue developing our network and related offerings in the China market. An interest for working with new technologies and pushing the envelope on existing technology is essential!

　　Key job responsibilities

　　Provide critical on-shift operational support to Amazon customers, in order to diagnose and mitigate large-scale impactful events

　　Support and maintain our next generation networks, by guiding partner software teams in their development efforts

　　Work closely with our Engineering, Capacity, Deployment, and Business Development teams to develop, influence, and ensure operational readiness of new products, services, infrastructure, and events

　　Identify, develop, and deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes to reduce operational burden

　　Drive standards across the network and ensure that are fully compliant to those standards and policies

　　Drive post-event deep dives to identify and deliver durable corrective actions

　　Improve our detection mechanisms by designing and implementing new telemetry systems and alerts

　　Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues

　　Create and improve documentation and processes

　　Identify and drive opportunities to automate repeatable tasks through the creation and maintenance of new scripts and tools

　　Effectively contribute towards hiring and developing others in the team

　　About the team

　　The engineers in this team are strong network operators that are focused on finding recurring problems, working with teammates and/or partner teams to build consensus around the solution, and driving the measurable elimination of that problem. They help develop the long-term vision for the network, then partner with software teams to improve our automation, telemetry, and traffic engineering capabilities to realize that vision. They also work closely with a multitude of AWS service teams to launch and develop their offerings in China.

　　Basic Qualifications

　　Bachelor’s Degree in a technology-related field (such as Computer Science or Computer Engineering)

　　2-3 years experience in a large network or service provider environment

　　Experience with routing protocols such as BGP, MPLS, OSPF, or IS-IS

　　Experience with operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Juniper JunOS

　　Experience in one or more languages such as Bash, Perl, or Python

　　Preferred Qualifications

　　Strong fundamentals with troubleshooting and performance analysis

　　Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem, and working toward resolution

　　Excellent verbal and written communication skills
