Job Overview
NYSERDA seeks a .NET Business Analyst to join our highly agile team of professionals dedicated to delivering high quality project deliverables through thorough and thoughtful planning as well as consultation with a wide variety of users. The .Net Business Analyst is a key member of the team responsible for understanding, documenting, and mapping business processes to appropriate technology solutions based on .NET (C#) and Microsoft Azure. The .NET Business Analyst is also responsible for doing gap analysis on existing systems to determine where development is needed.
Primary Responsibilities
Identify business needs, elicit specifications and requirements, and collaborate with customers and other IT team members to develop innovative solutions
Prepare functional specifications, review with customer, and revise as needed, obtain sign off
Provide analysis for projects involving systems design or redesign
Serve as a customer liaison, represent the department as needed on project teams and working groups
Document system processes, configurations, and changes
Manage multiple projects and assignments concurrently; meet established deadlines
Communicate to management and end-users in meaningful and understandable terms
Facilitate communication and collaboration among diverse groups at all levels of the organization
Serve as a resource for other team members
Understand and adhere to NYSERDA’s policies and procedures.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field, and two years experience in systems analysis work; or
Associates degree and five years of experience in systems analysis work;
Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.
Experience translating business needs into formal requirements
Experience creating functional and technical documentation
Ability to communicate technically complex concepts in easy-to-understand terms
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with both technical and non-technical staff
Ability to focus on details to create a reliable and accurate work product
Experience with relational databases and complex data structures; ability to create basic SQL queries
Knowledge of end user data manipulation tools
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to facilitate internal end-user training on new or substantially modified systems.
Ability to facilitate User Acceptance Testing sessions
Experience triaging bug and enhancement tickets and helping to diagnose system problems
Knowledge of data security and encryption
Ability to keep up with technology advancements
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant certifications in .NET, Microsoft Azure, or other cloud computing technologies
Experience with requirements decomposition
Experience with requirements traceability analysis
Experience with Agile development practices (e.g. Scrum)
Experience with systems analysis for software systems leveraging .NET and/or Microsoft Azure
Knowledge of report creation tools
Experience establishing, documenting, and maintaining procedures and processes
