Nature Preserve Technician II - Eagle Valley Nature Preserve

　　Work Mode: Onsite

　　Location: Glen Haven, WI

　　*Please note this position is not located in Kohler, WI

　　Overview

　　A remote 1450-acre preserve in the southwest corner of Wisconsin is owned by Kohler Co. and the Kohler Trust for Preservation and is managed as a wildlife sanctuary in order to preserve its natural character and integrity. The preserve serves as a perennial winter roost site for Bald Eagles.

　　Specific Responsibilities

　　Assist Preserve Manager with numerous facets of preserve management, such as: habitat restoration and management including prescribed burns, noxious weed control, brush/tree removal; wildlife research and management (e.g., satellite tracking Bald and Golden Eagles, winter research of Bald Eagles, and bird migration monitoring)

　　Trail and landscape construction and maintenance

　　Building maintenance and repair

　　Patrolling property to deter trespass and maintain an undisturbed preserve.

　　This is a full-time position.

　　Skills/Requirements

　　Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Studies, Landscape Restoration, or related field.

　　2+ years of field experience preferred.

　　Must be competent in identifying native and invasive plants of the Upper Midwest.

　　Required to be ambitious, punctual, responsible individual capable of working outside in all kinds of weather.

　　Some knowledge of birds, especially raptors, beneficial.

　　Competence with computer-related tasks and mapping software (e.g. ArcGIS, Excel, Word, etc.) necessary.

　　Working familiarity with operation and maintenance of wildlife surveillance cameras. Trail/landscape development and maintenance, general building maintenance, and vehicle/machinery maintenance and repair skills are helpful.

　　Must have the ability to perform the safe use of 4x4 pick-ups, ATVs, chain saws, brushcutters, and a variety of hand tools.

　　The hourly range for this position is $18.20 - $22.75. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
