The Multi-Modality Technologist is skill and certified and performsdiagnostic imaging procedures in at least three of the followingspecialty areas: Radiography; DXA; Mammography; CT; MRI; Ultrasound. Asa Multi-Modality Technologist, the employee will meet the requirementsand perform the duties delineated in each of the specific JobDescriptions that qualifies him/her as a Multi-Modality Technologist.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Knowledgeable in all exams performed relative to the specialties inwhich the Technologist is certified. Performs standard and advancedstudies approved by the Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging.
Prepares, operates and maintains equipment. Prepares patient rooms andmaintains adequate supplies and medications.
Is prepared to serve members of various patient groups from neonatal togeriatric by using special equipment or adjusting techniques tosatisfactorily produce a diagnostic image.
Provides the patient and those in attendance with appropriateinformation relating to the procedure being performed..
Encourages newborn/toddler to communicate by smiling, talking softly,etc.; insures proper patient identification; helps to educate parent(s)regarding whatever procedure is being done.
Encourages child to ask questions about whatever procedure is beingdone; use a toy or game to teach the child and to reduce fear; keepsparent(s) involved in whatever follow-up procedure might be necessary.
Shows respect for the adolescent patients opinions, and avoids anauthoritarian approach; explains the procedure in detail and encouragesquestions from patient.
Gives the geriatric patient every possible assurance regarding theprocedure being performed; assists the patient in terms of any necessaryself-care; encourages the patient to take advantage of any supportsystem that may be in place.
Records images with proper labeling and identification.
Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis.
Selects and operates equipment as directed and notifies dept. manager ofequipment problems.
Lifts, moves, and transports patients via wheelchair or gurney asnecessary.
Consults with appropriate people to obtain a complete clinical history;gathers pertinent clinical data.
Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. Isavailable for evening, night, and weekend rotation and call duty.
Maintains technique and procedure manuals.
Effectively utilizes the HIS & RIS computer and related officeequipment.
Participates in Departmental Quality Assurance Program as directed.

Complies with appropriate hospital and diagnostic imaging service dresscode.
Respects and adheres to hospital policies regarding patientconfidentiality both in and out of the hospital setting.

Establishes and maintains orderliness in the work place and writeslegibly.

Capable of working without supervision within the guidelines set up bythe Director of Diagnostic Imaging.
Have good oral and written communication skills

Manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and mobility are required.
Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs.
Occasional prolonged standing, walking, bending and changing from oneposition to another.
Working with difficult or combative patients.
Exposures:
May be exposed to infections, contagious diseases and blood bornepathogens.
Odorous and toxic chemicals as well as unpleasant specimens.
Working with or around ionizing radiation.
