Summary The incumbent serves as a Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO) in Nutrition and Food Service. S/he works at a two-divisional teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Kentucky Medical Center at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. Lexington, KY. Incumbent will rotate between both of the locations for the two divisions (Cooper Drive Division and Leestown Road Division). Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the transporting of inpatient food trays. MVO assists in the removing of carts from the docking stations, adding frozen items, and transporting the carts to the loading dock. Ensures food carts are delivered in a timely manner. Assists food service workers in delivery of carts to multiple delivery sites, delivery of patient meal trays and picking up soiled trays and returning them to the kitchen. Maintains necessary records such as the MVO daily log sheet. Responsible for weekly vehicle inspections. Responsible for reporting any mechanical problems with the vehicle to immediate supervisor. Responsible for maintaining the proper sanitation level for the 1.5 ton truck. Responsible for the pick-up and delivery of Nutrition and Food Service mail between divisions. May be assigned to move equipment and supplies as needed. May perform cleaning assignments, work on tray assembly line. May be assigned to work in the ingredient control unit receiving/issuing supplies. May be assigned to acting supervisor. Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 6 am-2:30 pm and 11 am-7:30 pm. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Work requires constant lifting and moving heavy objects from moderate (45 pounds) to heavy (50 pounds); bending and stooping; constant walking and standing; pushing food conveyors, carts and other equipment that may weigh up to 600 pounds. Work is subject to pressure in completing assignments in accordance with a close time schedule. May be required to operate portable pallet jack, and lift portable docks and operate battery-powered tuggers used to pull food carts. In-charge of operating motor vehicle weighing up to 23,999 pounds and sitting for periods of time. Education There is no education requirement for this position.
