As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Mobile Equipment Operator 1, 2, or Heavy 1 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1 - Class E, Driver’s License will be required upon appointment and a Class D Chauffeurs License will be required upon attainment of permanent status. Starting salary for MEO-1 is $16.06/hourly ; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status.
MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 2 - Class A, Commercial Driver’s License will be required upon appointment . Starting salary for MEO-2 is $17.18/hourly; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status.
MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR HEAVY 1 - Class A, Commercial Driver’s License will be required upon appointment . Starting salary for MEO-1/HEAVY is $21.05/hourly.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

30% Performs maintenance related activities, including but not limited to hauling material, removal of dead animals and litter/debris from interstate routes or state maintained highways throughout parishes that comprise District 61.
Uses various hand held equipment while performing general landscape duties.
Operates a chain saw and/or pole saw to cut trees and trim overhanging tree limbs that may be encroaching onto interstate on/off ramps, bridges, guardrails, roadways etc.
Performs incidental repair and construction tasks including but not limited to drain cleaning, ditch cleaning, pothole patching, flagging/ basic traffic control, loading and unloading materials and/or equipment, etc.
Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance in accordance with operator’s manual and manufacture recommendations to keep equipment operating efficiently and safely.
Assists herbicide applicators in loading and unloading boxes and/or pallets of herbicides. This work involves lifting up to 50 lbs. Uses a back pack and/or hand held sprayer to apply herbicides around bridges, traffic control boxes, guardrails, signs, etc.
15% Provide functional supervision to Mobile Equipment Operator 1 /2 while performing assigned task.
5% Will be required to perform other duties as instructed by supervisor, including but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
