Adams Construction Company is one of the oldest asphalt paving firms in Virginia. 　　GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

　　This position directly reports to the mine foreman. All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member. Primary responsibilities include assisting in production functions and maintenance.

　　DUTIES \ RESPONSIBILITES:

　　Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environment and areas.

　　Prioritizes SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by PRODUCTION

　　Ensures a safe work environment for self and others at all times.

　　Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety policies to assure that environmental, health and safety are the first priority.

　　Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist as needed to improve EHS.

　　Communicates effectively and timely with staff.

　　Ensure all work areas are clean, tidy and organized at all times.

　　Trains and coaches other employees when needed

　　Performs other duties as time permits or as assigned

　　ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

　　Able to perform basic math computations

　　Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits

　　Punctual and reliable; good attendance required

　　Good communication skills verbal and listening

　　Detail-oriented

　　Team-player

　　Positive, courteous, and helpful approach

　　Motivated and eager to learn new skills

　　Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed

　　Must be able to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol test

　　Must be able to travel given certain circumstances, up to but not excluding travel 3 hours away from home site.

　　QUALIFICATIONS:

　　High School diploma/GED.

　　Reliable transportation

　　Previous surface mining experience preferred but not required

　　Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English)

　　Welding, cutting, and mechanical skills are desired

　　Previous experience operating wheel loaders or dredges preferred.
