Essential Functions and Objectives:Supports operations through practical application of knowledge, use ofproven techniques, and adherence to procedures. Primary focus on executionof assigned tasks in a specific area of responsibility, with a technicalemphasis; such as; equipment, machinery, or scientific/chemical.
Performs hands-on tasks applying proven industry standards and techniques,while adherence to policies, procedures, or guidelines in the area ofresponsibility. Installs, tests, analyzes, troubleshoots, repairs,maintains, related equipment in order to support short-term operations andminiPerforms data entry and verification, keeps accurate files/records,creates detailed reports, using various existing systems for accurate,timely, and compliant records.Receives, understands, and disseminates information in subject matter toappropriate stakeholders. Diagnoses problems and aids in resolving technicalissues and escalates appropriately to ensure a positive experience.Contributes to identifying process inefficiencies and proposes solutions,identifies opportunities through external research on trends in resources,programs, and services and internal research with stakeholders, andsupports improvement efforts in order to support long-term operations andminimize downtime.L1 (Apprentice)- Under the direction of L2 or L3 technicians: Assists with and or performsall functions of the L2 (Journeyman) and L3 (Master or Multi-Skilled)level position.
L2 (Journeyman)- Reviews work orders, prioritizes, and determines supplies for repair;purchases supplies using District purchase order system.- Communicates and coordinates with staff at work site and with other shopstaff.- Reviews work orders and designs projects, considering work related codes(e.g., building codes, ADA) and District guidelines.- Prepares and cleans up job site (e.g., erecting scaffolding), takinginto consideration safety concerns of self and others (e.g., students,employees), and disposes of waste and flammable materials.- Performs repair and manufacturing welding (e.g., weld, cut, grind).- Mounts and installs mechanical motors and equipment (e.g., overheaddoors, gates, sports equipment).- Fabricates, repairs and installs District equipment (e.g., catwalks,handrails, ladders, stage riggings).- Fabricates parts for District equipment (e.g., bleacher systems, lunchroom tables, seats).- Conducts preventive safety inspections, and performs repairs based oninspection results (gym safety inspections, pool diving boards).- Fabricates parts for, and repairs overhead door and gate systems.- Replaces parts for, and repairs gates, windows and flagpoles.- Mounts, fastens, and attaches equipment to building structures,operating metal lathe and milling machine to grind, file, and turn machineparts to dimensional specifications.- Performs work and cross trains in at least one other trade as an apprentice.- Assists with snow removal efforts on a 24 hour on-call basis.- Responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.- Bids on work requested by schools, and prepares cost estimates.
L3 (Master or Multi-Skilled)- Trains and mentors apprentice.- Inspects work of independent contractors, identifies deficiencies, andcommunicates with project manager about correcting deficiencies according tocode and DPS specifications.
Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:- Graduate of a 5-year apprenticeship school preferred. Four (4) to eight(8) years journeyman experience and/or training equivalent combinationof education and experience.- Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License and meet districtinsurability standards.
