As a Metrology Technologist the successful candidate will be responsible for creating programs for manufactured in house parts, research and development, experimental, and reverse engineering. Experience with camshafts, gears, castings, parts large and small produced from metal and non-metal. The ideal candidate should be able to work from drawings, models, charts or specifications, use measurement instruments to check and verify own work and work of others. Must be detail-oriented and organized.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Operate and program DCC CMM (QUINDOS) / (PCDMIS)
Inspect machined, welded, and fabricated parts
Ability to complete hand measurements using various gages on a surface plate
Supporting engineers, technologists, managers, marketing personnel, customers, and suppliers
Attend meetings
Perform general CMM maintenance and calibration. Maintain hardware, software to enhance on line / off line programming.
Analyze & interpret the data on the customer blueprints to determine the best way to proceed to reach the desired outcomes. Use your discretion and judgment how to receive the optimal results that the customer is looking for in inspection of their parts.
Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition
Must meet deadlines
Possibility for occasional travel both domestic and international
Required Qualifications:
Able to operate and program DCC CMM’S using QUINDOS software or PCDMIS
4 years of progressive, relevant experience in Quality Inspection
Advanced knowledge of inspection tools including: Calipers, Mic’s, Bore Gauges, Height Gauge, etc.
Effective problem solving for job related issues: identify, gather and assess pertinent facts, evaluate and draw appropriate conclusions.
Ability to work as part of a team and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, suppliers, and customers.
Must have strong understanding of GD&T and its application
Microsoft Office experience (basic skills/knowledge – capable of functioning independently) ie. Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
Ability to lift 35lbs
Desired Qualifications:
Experience using online Caterpillar drawings (in EPIX or HVC) and 1E Specifications (in REDI) also highly desirable.
Previous machining experience
Laser Tracker experience / Programming PC-DMIS
Program in PC-DMIS using CAD Models
Gage Lab experience, setting gages, surface finish, etc.
Romer experience / Programming PC-DMIS
