  Description of Work Unit

  Counseling Services

  Counseling Services at the CSU Health Network provides clinical services, outreach and consultation and training services. Our professional staff includes licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors, as well as graduate student staff from each of these disciplines. Our staff provides high quality mental health and substance use services that are easily accessible and support student success. We are dedicated to affirming respect, compassion, and acceptance for all, and we celebrate diversity with regard to all backgrounds and identities. Counseling Services supports the education and prevention mission of the CSU Health Network through presentations and training on mental health topics. Through outreach and consultation, we create collaborative relationships with offices serving students typically underrepresented in higher education and mental health services. Our training program provides post degree fellowship, internship, and practicum training to graduate students in psychology, social work, counseling, and student affairs. We recognize the importance of quality supervision and training in the education of future mental health professionals.   Position Summary

  The position of Mental Health Counselor – Alcohol & Other Drugs ( AOD ) Focus provides mental health services for Colorado State University students. Responsibilities include the support of alcohol and other drug treatment services, general clinical services, graduate training, and some outreach programming.

  This position reports directly to the Director of Specialty Counseling Services and serves as a staff member in Drugs, Alcohol, and You ( DAY ) Programs.

  Required Job Qualifications

  Education/License

  Minimum of a master’s degree or doctorate degree in a mental health related field (counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling psychology or closely related field)

  Applicable mental health license ( LPC , LCSW , LMFT , Licensed Psychologist) acquired in Colorado, or the ability obtain one, within three months of employment

  Experience

  Two years of experience providing mental health counseling servicesPreferred Job Qualifications

  Experience

  Experience providing substance use counseling to individuals and groups

  Experience providing mental health counseling to individuals, couples, and groups

  Experience working on a multidisciplinary team

  Experience providing clinical supervision

  Experience working with mandated populations

  Experience working with college age population

  Experience working in an inpatient treatment center or intensive outpatient treatment center

  Experience caring for diverse populations, including diverse religious/spiritual beliefs; racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds; abilities; and diverse sexual orientations and gender identities

  Knowledge and understanding of the lived experience of persons with historically marginalized identities

  Demonstrated commitment to social justice and experience with the treatment of individuals with marginalized identities, especially people who experience substance use challenges and people with justice system involvement
