The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented person to join the team at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI) in the role of Medical Transcriptionist. This is a full-time position with a Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. schedule and opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.
The Medical Transcriptionist will perform transcription using the Dolbey Fusion transcription system. Important duties include proofreading completed documents and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, and typographical errors. The Medical Transcriptionist also participates in the testing and debugging of new word processing programs, performs filing, coding, and routing, and develops a working knowledge of the Dolbey Fusion transcription system and standard office equipment including fax machines, microfilm, and electronic typewriters.

CMHI provides active inpatient treatment to adults in need of acute psychiatric care. The facility offers several services including individualized treatment plans. Support for patients with special education needs to continue their education is provided, and individuals are encouraged to collaborate with staff members in formulating their own plan. Medication, group counseling, and activities therapies might be included as well.

Experience equal to one year of full-time work involving word processing functions such as: text editing and formatting, document storage and retrieval, and document merging;
OR
employees withcurrentcontinuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to six months of full-time work as a Word Processor 1.
