　　Job Summary and Qualifications

　　The Med Surg Director provides overall administrative and clinical leadership to his/her department. They are accountable and responsible for all departmental activities to ensure delivery of quality patient care in a safe and therapeutic environment. The Director will ensure effective administrative management of clinical functions related to personnel and policy in order to meet the mission of patient care, education and research within a fiscally responsible organization.

　　What you will do in this role:

　　You will demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patient appropriate to the ages of patients served.

　　You will develop recommendations on policies and procedures for Clinical Operations.

　　You will provide overall leadership and management of departments supervised.

　　You will provide administrative and clinical supervision of staff within departments supervised.

　　Your role assumes responsibility for clinical and resource management of unit (24 hrs/day)

　　You will assume responsibility for employee, physician and patient satisfaction.

　　You will assume responsibility for standards of practice and for quality of care.

　　Your role promotes hospital customer service initiative.

　　You will actively participate in the reduction/elimination of diversion and bed flow management and participation with Team and development of processes to increase throughput.

　　You will assist with recruiting additional referrals and the development of the patient flow from ED to inpatient status.

　　You will conduct periodic audits of essential clinical activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

　　You will participate in developing department goals/objectives and employee engagement action planning.

　　Your role supports the facility’s Standards of Performance and ICARE values.

　　Your role recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

　　What qualifications you will need:

　　Current licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing as RN

　　Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing is required, Master’s Degree strongly preferred

　　Previous Clinical experience in area of responsibility

　　Three to five years supervisory or management level experience required

　　Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
