JOB REQUIREMENTS: Overview Provides patient care by collecting andprocessing samples and performing clinical laboratory procedures.Required to work alternate shifts, weekends, and holidays. Performsother duties as assigned. Responsibilities Performs lab test byautomated and manual methods according to defined policies andprocedures. Performs and interprets quality control and proficiencytesting procedures to ensure accurate and precise test results. Assuresappropriate documentation in all aspects of laboratory testing to meetregulatory requirements. Responds to questions from physicians andnurses regarding laboratory testing. Processes specimens and preparespaperwork for transport to reference laboratories. Performs preventativemaintenance, troubleshooting and calibration of laboratoryinstrumentation. Performs phlebotomy to collect patient blood specimens.Assists front desk clerk with releasing lab and x-ray orders form EPIC.May be asked to assist with method and instrument evaluation. May beasked to participate in teaching and training. Keeps work area clean andorganized. Assures adequate inventory of reagents and supplies.Education and Experience Associate degree and/or equivalent education,internship and experience in a medical laboratory science programCertification/Licensure Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)certification through an accrediting agency, i.e. ASCP, AMT, HEW,Military, required within 90 days. Approved CPR or BLS certificationrequired within 90 days.
