Description:
The Medical Director, Health Informatics combines expert knowledge of patient care, health informatics concepts, and change management to effectively represent the information and knowledge needs and requirements of multi-professionals and patients and to promote safe, effective, and efficient use of health information technology across the care continuum. Provides oversight for the health information technology for the Trinity Health across the care continuum. Serves as an advisor to the Senior Vice President Chief Health Informatics Officer by serving as a liaison with medical staff colleagues in all health care environments for the Trinity Health system. Reviews regional and national trends, experiences and approaches in health information systems and technology to identify best practices that assist in the development of strategies.
Functions as a champion to help establish and communicate a vision and plan for the use of health information technology and represents the needs and requirements of the clinical community. As a partner for transformation and in collaboration, leads and supports health informatics initiatives with an emphasis in health information technology and other services to support Physician and interdisciplinary care partners in the areas of practice, health care applications, clinical/administrative decision-making, research and quality improvement initiatives, education, and resource management.
Accountable for leading, guiding, and directing the Trinity Health regional area functional responsibilities. Enable RHM level strategy to address internal or external business & regulatory issues; provide functional expertise and ensure fulfillment of performance and service standards. Responsible for consistent operating performance and achieving financial goals. Identifies, defines & solves complex problems that impact the management & direction of the business; Collaborate with Service Area, RHMs and Health Ministries to ensure consistency and integration of strategy and operations. Maintaining awareness of new industry developments and standards. Provides decision support, operations &/or optimization leadership focus.

• Providing advice, guidance, and leadership to RHM and ministry leaders in developing strategies and in the achievement of performance goals.
• Enable Collaboration across and within service area, RHM, and ministries to ensure consistency and integration of strategy and operations
Direction and Growth
• Providing advice, guidance, and leadership to RHM, and ministries.
• Leading standardization/systemness and optimization of policy, process, methodology, establishing a national community of practice
• Oversee Vendor/Contract Labor Management including centralizing strategy and optimizing spend
Strategic Support & Accountability
• Collaborates in system-wide strategy development and deployment of functional area priorities and initiatives
• Responsible for supporting regional efforts to comply with functional area priorities
• Accountable for the selection, evaluation, and overall success of the functional leadership teams
• Organization-wide focal point for establishing functional strategies and governance over financials and staffing
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of Health Informatics through a combination of education and experience.
Medical Degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with board certification in clinical specialty required.
Active and current license for Medical Doctor/Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine required.
At least seven (7) years of comprehensive work experience consisting of leadership and health informatics roles as well as experience at a multi-hospital system.
Proven track record in leading the implementation of HIT and health information system projects in acute and ambulatory venues, performance/business process improvement activities, including analyzing clinical workflow processes utilizing continuous process improvement methodologies to ensure the delivery of excellence in patient care.
Demonstrated experience in leading transformational change, including knowledge and use of change leadership models and process redesign.
