Join us at Concentraand see how your clinical competency and compassion can make a meaningfuldifference in the lives of the patients you serve.The Medical Support Specialist (MSS) is responsible for performing routinemedical and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treatingclinician as well as supports in other areas of the facility as neededincluding registration and referral management. This role requires efficientand accurate delivery of one-on-one patient care while thriving in afast-paced environment. The MSS ensures that every patient is treated the withquality clinical care and receives an excellent patient experience fromwelcoming, respectful, and skillful colleagues.

  Responsibilities

  Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcoholtestingPrepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs andany required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited tovaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing andrespirator fit testingPerform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)Assist providers during examination and treatmentResponsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treatingclinician as well as triaging emergent patients as neededPrepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury careApply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinicianDispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician inaccordance with state regulationsComplete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as wellas testing processes used in the centerMaintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam roomsMaintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, includingcalibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy andproceduresNotify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly,supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expectedIn partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volumeKeep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the centervisitResponsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associatedwith patient care and proper record keepingEnsure accuracy in documentationPerform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, checkin/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system,and distribute employer results/paperwork as neededFollow HIPAA guidelines and safety rulesAttend center staff meetings or huddles as requiredAssist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout thefacilityComplete any applicable training including but not limited to clinicalcompetency training that occurs monthlyThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensivelisting of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of theemployee for this job.   Qualifications

  Education Level: Vocational/Technical/Business SchoolMedical Assistant Certification from an accredited school (credentials inthe state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicableregulations) or Military Medical Specialist with current Medical Assistantcredentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirementsand applicable regulationsJob-Related Experi nceCustomarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experienceKnowledge of medical procedures and medical terminologyWorking knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific)preferredJob-Related Skills/CompetenciesConcentra Core Competencies of Service Mentality, Attention to Detail,Sense of Urgency, Initiative and FlexibilityAbility to make decisions or solve problems by using logic to identify keyfacts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutionsOutstanding customer service skills as well as the ability to deal with peoplein a manner which shows tact and professionalismThe ability to properly handle sensitive and confidential information(including HIPAA and PHI) in accordance with federal and state laws andcompany policiesAble to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear, andprofessional mannerTeamwork focus with peers and center leadership team; ability to maintain
