  SUMMARY:Design, produce, and test mechanical subsystems for training devices and other similar applications that satisfy specified operational, performance, and interface requirements. Responsible for mechanical engineering development, integration, verification, and documentation tasks within a specified budget and schedule.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Analyze operational and performance requirements of the overall systemand defines candidate detail mechanical system design approaches thatcomply with project requirements. This includes consideration forelectro-mechanical requirements, cooling, hydraulics, pneumatics, spaceavailability, safety, spare requirements, etc.

  []{#_Hlk136412614}Review program specifications and applicable standardswith project and systems engineers to identify and evaluate interfacerequirements between mechanical hardware and other system hardware andsoftware.

  Define interface requirements for mechanical subsystems consistent withsystem interfaces and top-level designs.

  Perform value engineering trade studies of candidate detail designsolutions to determine the optimum solution given fidelity, quality,schedule, and cost constraints.

  Develop detailed mechanical designs via analyses, elaboration, anddecomposition of top-level interface, operational, and performancerequirements.

  Identify and manage technical risks to avoid unplanned problems andminimize costs.

  Perform subsystem test, integration test, and acceptance test of designproducts.

  Troubleshoot equipment to identify and solve problems.

  []{#_Hlk135649079}Participate in installation, acceptance, and deliveryof training devices to various world-wide locations.

  Coordinate with management, purchasing, fabrication, assembly, andsystems testers to ensure product conformance to functionalspecifications and customer requirements.

  End products will consist of proposals, reports, specifications, designdocuments, manufacturing/production specifications, and testspecifications as required for the subject project.

  Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment, asappropriate, to perform tasks.

  Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

  QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to performeach essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below arerepresentative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals withdisabilities to perform the essential functions.

  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in mechanical engineering, physics, orequivalent; or 3 years related, practical experience, preferably insimulation; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  Minimum of 18 months of simulation industry experience. Knowledge andexpertise for this level typically results from internal progressiveexperience. However, selection for this position is based on thedemonstrated ability of the person to successfully fulfill the duties,responsibilities, and requirements listed.

  Background must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the sciencesunderlying mechanical engineering.

  LANGUAGE SKILLS:[]{#_Hlk135648644}Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industryrelevant technical literature. Ability to correspond effectively andefficiently with coworkers, subcontractors, customers, regulatoryagencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effective ypresent technical information to colleagues, management, and customers.Ability to develop technical documentation such as hardware designdocuments, interface documents, test procedures, and user manuals.

  MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:[]{#_Hlk135648695}Ability to comprehend and apply basic trigonometry andcalculus. Ability to comprehend and apply principles of modern algebra,Boolean algebra, ratios, and percentages.

  COMPUTER SKILLS:Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word,Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.

  Experienced and proficient in the use of standard personal computersoftware tools, including word processors, spreadsheets, presentationgraphics, virtual meetings, team collaboration, project tracking, anddatabases.

  REASONING ABILITY:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and drawvalid conclusions.
