Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of experience as a mechanic.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training as a mechanic from a trade school, vocational-technical school, or military school will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience. Training will be credited in six month increments.

FUNCTION OF WORK:
To provide supervision, guidance, and logistical support in a mechanic repair shop.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Supervisor.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct from a Mechanic Supervisor B or other higher level personnel.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct over mechanics. May supervise other shop personnel.
LOCATION OF WORK:
May be used by all state agencies.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Mechanic 4 by the presence of direct supervisory responsibility.
Differs from Mechanic Supervisor B by the absence of responsibilities as defined by the SCS allocation criteria memo.

Assigns work to mechanics and other shop personnel.
Inspects repair work in progress and upon completion.
Evaluates work performance of subordinates.
Updates cost and time records for repair activities.
Supervises preparation of repair orders, equipment records, requisitions, etc.
