　　Job summary:Under general direction, performs advanced service, maintenance and repairs of heavy duty transitcoaches and other equipment in the City transit fleet. Determines the mechanical safety of light duty andheavy duty transit bus prior to release for passenger service.

　　Minimum qualifications:High school degree or equivalent required. Five years of experience in heavy duty bus maintenance or in arelated field required. Air brake inspection certification required. Air conditioning material handlingcertification required. Forklift operators certificate required. Valid drivers license with satisfactory drivingrecord required. Valid Iowa Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and passenger endorsementrequired within 90 days of hire. This position is subject to federal drug testing requirements. A pre-employment drug screen is required. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. Must pass criminalbackground check.

　　Preferred qualifications:Associate degree in related field from a DOE recognized accreditation body or two years of additionaltraining beyond high school in auto mechanics, welding, fabrication and component rebuilding andreconditioning preferred.
