ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Responsible for reviewing accounts for correct third party billing as assigned.

· Contacts insurance carriers, patients, and clinics to resolve claim issues.

· Updates patient registration and insurance as needed to correctly file claims.

· Participates in recognizing denial trends and provides feedback to manager

· Maintains claim and online notes

· Responsible for keeping current with federal and state compliance and insurance industry regulations.

· Maintains knowledge of confidentiality laws.

· Maintains knowledge of third party liability laws.

· Promotes the Spirit of Mercy at all times.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

· Participates in staff development activities and orientation as requested.

· Responsible for following equipment maintenance protocol, identifying problems, and coordinating appropriate repairs.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

· High school diploma or GED required

· One-year experience in accounts receivable, collection, health insurance, medical office, and customer service required.

· One-year experience working on personal computers and or mainframe terminal and office calculators required.
