  Department: Oncology/Palliative Care

  Schedule: Full Time FT Days, 3 - 12 hour shifts per week, 7am - 7pm

  Hospital: Ascension St Vincent's Birmingham - Downtown

  Location: Birmingham, Alabama

  On 3 South Medical Unit we have 30 beds. We are moving towards specializing in Palliative Care and Oncology with many opportunities to advance your career once you are settled. Our nursing staff is working right now to get Chemo and Palliative Care Certifications. We work with many specialists. Starting off on a Medical Surg Unit is a wise decision to find what your passion is because you have the opportunity to get experience in so many different areas of medicine.

  Responsibilities

  Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

  Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.

  Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

  Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

  Requirements

  Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

  Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  Education:

  Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.Additional Preferences
