POSITION SUMMARY:
The Materials Specialist - Packaging/Trims collaborates with product developers, merchants, creative services, suppliers, and vendors to ensure brand guidelines are executed for all materials - packaging/trims projects. This position is responsible for ensuring projects are started and executed in a clear, precise, and timely fashion. The packaging/trims specialist must be very detailed, organized, and able to meet deadlines. The person in this position works with many different groups and must build relationships both internally and externally. In addition, this position will develop apparel products for children’s apparel lines and assist in logo apparel projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Prepares documentation to begin package/trim development and track progress to ensure deadlines are met. Contacts suppliers and/or vendors to collect and gather all necessary samples and product specifications, printing/product information, limitations, etc.
Identifies creative sources (print, graphic, 3D) and manages design development projects for product development teams.
Follows up on pending information from suppliers and/or development teams (i.e. missing specification information, cost estimate agreements, feedback on routing of proofs, invoices, etc.)
Carefully proofs of all design proofs. Organizes, routes, and facilitates approvals on all proofs throughout the development process (design brief, initial concepts, changes, and release to production).
Works with marketing brand coordinator, and merchant teams to make sure all current brand standards are incorporated into packaging and trim brand guidelines and properly executed in design through production.
Manages implementation of brand’s packaging and trim updates with internal teams, vendors, and suppliers.
Monitors and manages compliance with current packaging regulations in both United States and Canada.
Identifies and implements improvements in cost and quality. Monitors and manages sustainability trends.
Maintains packaging and trims libraries in PLM.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Product Development, Design, or Business
Experience: Entry product development position; Less than 3 years in professional work experience in related field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
Computer Skills: MS Office, Excel, Adobe Photoshop (up to CS4), Adobe Illustrator (up to CS4), Adobe Acrobat 9. Academic basis for analytical and trouble shooting skills
Attention to detail: visually and functionally.
Well organized.
Ability to multi-task, excellent time management
Ability to collaborate in a cross functional team environment.
