Job Overview:
The Materials Administrator works within established material management procedures with a moderate degree of supervision. The Materials Administrator has developed knowledge and skills through formal material management training and work experience.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Perform housekeeping tasks to ensure that the work area is clean
Mentor other lower-level employees
Identify material description list to physical material
Match GRN (Goods Received Note) to packing list (I.D., shortness, damage)
Capable of dimensioning materials
Understand mill certificate data (forms, I.D., HT#)
Recognize heat number on material and mill certificates
Know of and can identify grades, specifications, and coatings
Accurately transfers material identification data to physical material
Create an accurate and legible tally sheet
Has knowledge of all material storage locations and receiving locations
Recognize damaged material
Restock material
Identify the material by size to restock
Know restock criteria and limitations
Load and unload material by using a forklift
Coordinate the shipment of outgoing material with the purchaser
Prepare shipping tickets
Identify equipment and transportation capacities
Identify material sizes and weights without supervision
Know permit loads
Understand the process for issuing a ticket
Operate a computer by performing inquiries and transactions in SCM (Supply Chain Management) System
Essential Qualifications and Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
5 years minimum experience
Organized and disciplined individuals with well-developed communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills required to deal effectively with operational management throughout the organization
