  Description of Work Unit

  Medical Services

  The Director of Medical Services at the CSU Health Network provides acute and chronic care to CSU students by appointments and on a walk-in basis for urgent concerns. Primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners care for students, with emphasis on preventive care, education, and continuity. The medical staff are supported by a full range of laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, physical therapy, psychiatry, optometry, and nutrition services on site, behavioral health and integrated care with counseling staff enhances the treatment of students with behavioral health concerns. Minor procedures are performed in the clinic. The Medical Clinic provides services between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday-Friday, providing attractive work schedules for staff.

  The CSU Health Network ( CSUHN ) at Colorado State University provides a full range of cost-effective mental health and primary care medical services on campus, referral for community specialty care, and comprehensive health education and prevention services programming. Services such as physical therapy, dentistry, and optometry are available. The CSU Health Network is active in creating a healthy campus environment to support learning and success.   Position Summary

  As a member of the CSU Health Network, the Director of Medical Services provides leadership for integrative, innovative, and comprehensive care of the highest quality. This position is a member of the Health Network Leadership Team, the Clinical Integration Team, and the Division of Student Affairs Directors’ Council. The position is a 12-month, exempt, Administrative Professional position.

  The Director of Medical Services is responsible for the scope and quality of the student Medical Services, including:

  Ensuring the provision of high-quality medical care in accordance with legal, ethical and accrediting body ( AAAHC ) standards, including culturally appropriate services that align with the diversity of students at Colorado State University

  Planning, delivery, and evaluation of Medical Services in accordance with college health best practices, community partner networks, and regional peer institutions

  The appropriate credentialing, privileging, and continuing medical education for all medical providers

  Management of Medical Services’ budgets and staffing in alignment with operational need and responsible fiscal management

  Integrated case management with adjacent CSU Health Network services (e,g, Mental Health Services)

  Ensuring appropriate medical structure and consultation is in place for the CSU Mountain Campus

  Engage in medical consultation for the Semester at Sea program

  Consultation and planning for campus’ public health response as needed

  The Director of Medical Services reports to the Executive Director, CSU Health Network.

  Required Job Qualifications

  Education/Licensure/Certification

  Current Colorado licensure as MD or DO (or equivalent outside U.S.), or ability to obtain Colorado license within 30 days of hire

  Board certification in a primary care specialty

  Current controlled substance registration ( DEA certificate)

  Experience

  7-10 years of experience in a high-volume multidisciplinary primary care clinic

  At least five years prior supervisory experience of peers

  At least three years of demonstrated experience developing systems and medical personnel to deliver culturally appropriate care

  At least five years of experience leading and developing quality improvement and quality assurance systems

  Ability to advance the department and CSU’s commitment to diversity and inclusion; demonstrated commitment to dismantling “race-based” medicine and other medical constructs that lack valid medical underpinning

  Preferred Job Qualifications

  Experience

  3-5 years of recent experience in youth/young adult outpatient clinics

  3-5 years of experience in student health services leadership

  Experience with integrated care leadership and management (e.g. Behavioral Health, Counseling, Health Education, Psychiatry)

  Supervisory experience of a medical team, including peers

  Implementation of an equitable health care approach in a primary care setting

  Leadership in professional association(s)

  Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  Knowledge of Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care ( AAAHC ) or other ambulatory accreditation practices

  Familiarity with healthcare legislation in the State of Colorado

  Ability to analyze policies, programs, and initiatives to support quality improvement in medical operations and clinical integration

  Bilingual (medically bilingual) in English and Spanish
