About Market Director - Climate Resilient Infrastructure (CRI)

  Description

  Leveraging their program management background, the Midwest Region Market Director will lead one of the largest Community Based Programs (CBP) in the region. They will manage the relationship with external senior leaders and other associated stakeholders on multi-constituency projects and communicate general project status and deliverables to all other program participants (internal team members, delivery partners, area stakeholders, etc.). This leader will further ensure compliance with performance metrics for the partnership and performance standards as required by our public sector client. This is an exciting, long-term opportunity to maintain ongoing connectivity to grow and expand the partnerships in the region.

  The role involves the oversight of our extensive portfolio, totaling well over $100 Million, of Climate Resilient Infrastructure projects that are to be designed by CIS’s subcontractors on a wide variety of large-scale projects. The role also requires supporting business development and marketing of urban greening and climate resilient programs across the region.

  This position reports to the Managing Director of CIS’s Asset Management Managing Director.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Be or become a thought leader in equitable climate resilient initiatives across the greater Kansas City

  Establish a strong working and collegial relationship with the local partner staff, and program leadership.

  Thoroughly understand the vision, contractual agreements, and roles and responsibilities of our area partnership as to hold all parties involved accountable for their responsibilities within the partnership.

  Manage service providers’ contractual obligations related to the implementation, delivery and management of the project; review and approve any required agreement modifications with supporting financial and legal analysis.

  Identify and resolve potential performance gaps or challenges that may impact future commitments. As necessary, develop corrective action plans that promptly address any pain points, inefficiencies, or unmet business needs; partner with operations teams to guide end-to-end execution of the plan.

  Ensure the consistent application of all policies and procedures at the program level.

  Lead periodic meetings with the partner to discuss program management operations and priorities.

  Interact with all program and community stakeholders to promote the program initiatives and its contribution to the general community at large.

  Support an environment that fosters respectful, informative and timely communication and collaboration across various functional areas.

  Coordinate the activities of functional support teams to assure that all resources are well coordinated and lines of communication are clear and open.

  Review and analyze financial reports in order to proactively identify challenges as well as opportunities to improve operations and to maintain the overall financial health of the program.

  Ensure that all milestones, measurements, fees, budgets and schedules are achieved in compliance with the approved program business plan and the CIS’s vision.

  Work with finance, accounting, legal, HR, IT and various subject matter experts to maximize the oversight and increase value within the partnerships to ensure delivery of the vision, scope and services.

  Troubleshoot and adjust strategy and tactics when necessary to ensure achievement of goals.

  Coordinate with accounting and finance personnel to ensure timely and accurate submission of all client reporting requirements.

  Support and reinforce company goals, strategies and decisions in a manner consistent with our culture and vision.

  Recognize and elevate any potential liabilities that may adversely impact the program and/or company.

  Develop and manage an extensive network of contacts with water utilities, government agencies, and consulting and nonprofit/community partners.

  Identify and participate in industry working groups, associations, and collaborative networks to stay up-to date, gather industry intel, and share CIS’s work.

  What You Will Need:

  A strong business acumen.

  Demonstrated experience leading and managing large groups of people. A strong leadership presence is required.

  The ability to create and lead in a learning environment where no one, including this role is afraid to ask questions.

  The ability to read, comprehend and implement as required complex partnership contractual agreements.

  The ability to identify, procure and manage the resources necessary to implement a large scale stormwater infrastructure development program.

  The ability to pragmatically develop processes and policies with controls to implement large scale plans.

  Enthusiasm to work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team of planners, engineers, social/economic-focused consultants, contractors, and asset managers to make positive and impactful change across communities through careful design and implementation of best practices.

  Motivation to serve underserved communities.

  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture, Business, Finance, Economics or related field. MBA or other advanced degrees preferred.

  15+ years of professional experience in service provider business with a focus on upholding contract obligations and identifying opportunities for expansion/growth.

  Previous experience with public-private partnerships, specifically within the stormwater management industry is a plus. Experience related to asset management of the life cycle of real estate facilities is a plus.

  History of building strategic relationships aligned on goals and focused on creating value for clients.

  Proven ability to lead the implementation of project-level strategies.

  Critical thinking and analytical skills necessary to mitigate risk factors and resolve complex or unforeseen conditions amid tight timelines and high client expectations.

  Demonstrable business sophistication and financial aptitude necessary to navigate high complexity service level agreements.

  Demonstrable success in managing external senior leaders and other associated stakeholders on multi-constituency projects.

  Strong communication skills, written and verbal, in terms of being able to communicate general project status and performance, specific deliverables, issues and/or other points of escalation in addition to the standard day-to-day communications required to ensure that all other program participants (internal team members, delivery partners, other 3rd parties, etc.) are performing their required duties.

  Proven ability to implement ideas and settle differences in a manner that strengthens relationships.

  Proven success analyzing key business issues and identifying the root cause of business challenges.

  Demonstrated ability to organize individual and team activities to ensure operations are highly productive and meet or exceed business goals.

  Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals of diverse backgrounds and at all organizational levels, including the ability to influence and negotiate.

  Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

  Ability to travel regularly.

  Valid driver’s license required.

  Position Location Requirements

  Candidate must be based in the Greater Kansas City metro area. The candidate is expected to work remotely for now, but once an office is opened, work out of our office a minimum of two days a week, attend in-person meetings as required, and anticipate approximately 15% travel time throughout the year.

  The pay range for this position is $175k to $200k, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary performance incentive.
