A successful Managing Editor needs to have various prerequisite skills and qualifications in order to handle their job duties effectively, including:

　　Advanced writing and editing skills

　　Excellent written and verbal communication skills

　　Ability to come up with creative ideas

　　Strong leadership and management skills

　　Able to manage reporters and photographers and assignments

　　Works closely with News Director in managing content for newscasts

　　Five years minimum experience working in a news department.

　　Compensation - $80,000+ commensurate with experience and skill level
