Job Summary
Lead the implementation of a coordinated portfolio management organization to drive efficiencies and standardization of contract management and execution in construction, engineering and vegetation management activities in the Energy Delivery and Distribution business units representing approximately $5B in annual outside services spend. Establish and implement AEP-Wide short and long-term strategies and optimization of operating company and Energy Delivery construction, engineering, and vegetation management program initiatives. Establish common definition and process for metrics reporting and analysis as well as portfolio analyses and optimization. Responsible for supplier relationship management to define objectives, lead engagement, and monitor performance for key suppliers. Establish and lead technology interface between operating companies, Energy Delivery, and corporate technology capabilities to ensure that technology is being explored and applied in a disciplined and results-oriented manner. Accountable for vegetation management operations within the Energy Delivery business unit.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
Set overall portfolio direction, promote operating company and Energy Delivery needs across AEP, and coordinate with other AEP initiatives.
Drive consensus and compliance across operating companies, Energy Delivery, and suppliers to ensure portfolio objectives are being achieved; serve as point of escalation to resolve different opinions on how to achieve portfolio objectives.
Foster continuous improvement by promoting best practices, identifying and prioritizing improvement opportunities, and engaging industry and peers.
Support standards for common operations and data management
Support regulatory strategies across jurisdictions by helping set long-term strategies.
Execute performance management process including definition and monitoring of portfolio-level metrics and scorecards.
Lead portfolio analysis activities aimed at optimizing the deployment of resources.
Standardize contract and vendor performance management to ensure consistent evaluation and engagement across all suppliers, including comparisons against internal resources.
As part of vendor engagement strategy, identify, measure, monitor and mitigate business risk by ensuring the right vendor capabilities and mix are engaged across all of AEP.
Manage key supplier relationships including but not limited to potential Alliance partners.
Lead scouting and landscaping activities for emerging technologies
Collaborate with IT to assess technology solutions to ensure they are scaled and deployed in an efficient and sustainable manner.
Provide on-going business support for new technologies and processes upon implementation.
Basic Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors Degree in engineering, business, project management, finance or related field of study. MBA preferred.
Experience: Ten (10) years of progressively higher level of responsibilities in Operations, Strategy, Procurement, Finance or related strategic planning or project management experience. Utility experience preferred. Demonstrated success leading and/or navigating matrix organizations is desired.
Additional Requirements: Must possess strong communication and collaboration skills. Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams.
