The M&P Engineering Manager will be located at Cirrus Aircraft Headquarters in Duluth, MN.
Essential Duties:
This job does require supervisory responsibilities of the M&P Laboratory and M&P Engineering staff.
Oversight of all material and process specification development, material and process screening/evaluation, material and process certification, specification maintenance, process troubleshooting, and new process development for metallic and non-metallic materials and coatings.
Maintain and forecast for OPEX, CAPEX budgeting, including short and long term labor forecasting of professional and technical staff
Ability to set priorities and level resources across multiple competing top-priority Projects
Act as Subject Matter Expert for all materials and process related troubleshooting, and provide SME support to all divisions of Cirrus Aircraft.
Work directly with the other divisions within Structures Engineering to ensure sound aircraft design, flight safety, etc.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Composite Materials or equivalent (MS preferred).
Demonstrated expertise in laminated composite processing, epoxy chemistry, and adhesive bonding mechanics
Demonstrated expertise in metals, coatings, heat treatment, machining, forgings, castings, and / or sheet metal forming
Demonstrated expertise in coatings and protective materials for electronics, wiring, sensors, as well as knowledge surrounding lightning strike protection
Minimum of ten years of aircraft industry experience; 15 plus years preferred
Product Development road mapping and leadership experience in advancement of M&P TRL / MRL is highly desired
Working knowledge specification creation
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) preferred.
Skills with Matlab, Mathcad, Minitab, and / or Excel SigmaXL for data and statistical analysis
Knowledge in the use and application of Weibull Analysis
Knowledge in the use, troubleshooting, and advanced creation of laboratory testing equipment such as load frames, chemical analysis equipment, 3D imaging, surface science, etc.
