  Department Details

  Opportunity to join an existing staff of 6 RTs. Work includes daytime hours Mon-Friday with afterhours and weekend on-call triage rotation. Hours are four 9 hour day shifts a week with rotating after hours on-call responsibilities.

  Work includes instructing caregivers to properly use medical equipment in the home-ventilators, oxygen, cough assist, RAD, apnea monitors, and oximetry testing. Must be have outstanding customer service skills, a friendly, helpful attitude, and good problem solving skills. Will consider either a certified or registered therapist for this position.

  Responsible for therapies across the tri-state area. Home Base would be in Sioux Falls and you wouldn’t be on the road every day. You would rotate through some in-office training. Mainly working with patients and patient’s families to teach them how to use the RT equipment

  Job Summary

  Required to deliver assessment, therapeutic intervention and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders or associated complications. Assess individuals to prevent, detect, monitor and manage disease and complications. Provide therapeutic interventions to directly impact cardiopulmonary health, as well as overall health status according to established goals and interdisciplinary care plans. Provide education to promote preventative care, self-management, enhanced cardiopulmonary health and quality of life. Perform regular assessments of patients and the equipment they use. Offer treatment suggestions based on the analysis of the patient. Work with patients in their home, hospital and clinic environments depending on patient needs. Work as part of a team of physicians, nurses or other healthcare professionals to manage patient care by assisting with patient home respiratory therapy. May be required to work on call shifts on a rotating basis. Must possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of all procedures, indications, contraindications and hazards involved in respiratory care, as well as knowledge of equipment utilized in the department. Demonstrate the knowledge required to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering for quality care. Required to complete orientations, competency validations and other in-service as required by the department and medical center. Position will include on call nights/weekends.

  Qualifications

  Associate degree in respiratory care from an accredited respiratory care program or in nursing required.

  Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate

  Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing

  Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).

  Currently holds a Respiratory Therapy (RT) or Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state(s) where the practice is occurring

  and/or possess multistate licensure when applicable. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. Obtains and

  subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

  If a licensed RT, must possess Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentials

  as attained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and maintain active status according to NBRC

  credentialing requirements.

  Licensed RNs must possess licensure through the applicable state Board of Nursing (BON).

  Based on facility needs, may require a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
