Role Summary
The Manager, Reliability Engineering is responsible for executing on the strategy for enterprise operations, runbook automation, and application performance monitoring for all our enterprise systems at Alaska & Horizon Airlines. As a people leader, the Manager, Reliability Engineering leads and establishes priorities for the team to focus on the proactive and reactive oversight of both infrastructure and applications. They will lead a team to be metrics driven with a goal to increase the stability, reliability, and overall quality of our systems.
Key Duties
Leads a team of enterprise engineers focused on reliability and automation.
Executes on strategy for infrastructure-based automation and runbook automation, enterprise and application performance monitoring, and self-healing scripting process.
Makes decisions for enterprise event correlation and operational efficiency.
Responsible for delivering results via an agile based project methodology and vendor oversight and management.
Executes on long-term solutions that drive down overall incidents, reduce problems and ultimately create safe, reliable and robust systems.
Provides daily oversight and management of resource scheduling, on-call schedules and project assignments.
Develops and guides technical engineers through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on growing and stretching engineers in current and future infrastructure platforms and agile delivery.
Collaborates with other Alaska & Horizon Airlines teams to improve systems support, monitoring, and administration.
Ensures operational compliance with all security, privacy, audit, disaster recovery, and other company requirements.
Supports regulatory audit requirements.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
A minimum of 5 years of IT experience.
A minimum of 2 years of experience leading technical teams.
A Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus in computer science, engineering, information systems, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Experience with enterprise monitoring and reliability runbooks.
Experience leading IT operations.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Preferred
Manages and has the capability to lead medium and large-scale projects.
Proven ability to successfully manage multiple vendors – including oversight and governance.
Inspirational and motivated leader that promotes the Alaska values.
Proven technical knowledge of application designs and architectures.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Proven ability to work effectively in stressful work environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Expertise coaching and mentoring technical engineering teams.
Experience with event correlation.
Experience with Windows and Linux based operating environments.
Experience with multi-cloud environments.

Salary Range
$132,900 - $206,100 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
