The Manager will be a critical member of the Revenue Finance & Reimbursement department of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH). BILH is a
new integrated health system that includes academic medical centers, acute and specialty hospitals, outpatient facilities, physician groups,
performance networks, and community partners. The Manager will support BILH’s integration of six separate revenue valuation and
reimbursement units into a unified, enterprise-level department aligned around shared goals and a commitment to:
(1) Deliver high quality net revenue valuation and related finance models based on transparent and efficient methodologies;
(2) Produce data and analytics that deliver actionable business insights to BILH hospital, physician, and system leaders;
(3) Provide strategic solutions that optimize reimbursements by applying a deep knowledge of both government and commercial payment
systems; and,
(4) Provide Medicare, Medicaid, and payment system expertise in support of BILH provider and system strategic and operational objectives.
Reporting to the Director of Revenue Finance and Reimbursement, the Manager will lead a team of 1-3 individuals with expertise in both
government reimbursement and net revenue analysis. Working with senior leadership, the Manager will help develop long- and short- term
Medicare, Medicaid, and other government reimbursement revenue strategies, oversee preparation and submission of regulatory filings, and
will provide system-wide guidance on revenue enhancement opportunities and regulatory requirements.
The Manager will be responsible for net revenue valuation and analytics for a core set of BILH facilities. Responsibilities include overseeing
the net revenue and third-party valuations, annual net revenue budgeting, audit support, and other month and year end net revenue
activities. In this role, the Manager will be responsible for supporting and educating health systems’ finance and operational leadership,
establishing open lines of communication with hospital CFOs and other facility leadership, and ensuring alignment between System Revenue
Finance and hospital and health system goals and objectives.
Job Description:
Manage a team of 1-3 members of the Revenue Finance department. Provide day to day support to the team, including communicatingthe Department’s vision and goals, creating team goals, and motivating and engaging team members to achieve goals.
The Manager will be responsible for producing and/or reviewing team members’ monthly, annual, and other reserve estimates, journalentries, general ledger account reconciliations, variances analyses, etc. for hospital and professional entities.
Manage activities including updating reserve tool tables, reviewing reserve models, reviewing journal entries, reviewing general ledgeraccount reconciliations, analyzing variances, and resolving issues.
At the direction of the Director, oversee the execution of the accounts receivable reserve process. Activities include: proactive monthly,quarterly, and analytical reviews of reserve levels and trends, standardization of practices and development of System-wide policies.
Manage and assist in the preparation and analysis of reports designed to monitor net revenue and identify trends in net revenue for hospital and professional business units.
Assist in the preparation of the annual net revenue budget and forecasting processes for net revenue projections for hospital and
professional business units.
Serve as a contact to support all third-party audits including Financial and Government Audits.
Review and assist in the preparation and filing of the Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, surveys, and questionnaires, assuring the
timeliness and accuracy of each.
Help identify and design strategic reimbursement initiatives including Medicare & Medicaid DSH, GME, UC, bad debt reimbursement, andwage index reclassifications.
In all interactions, foster teamwork, effective communication, and cohesiveness in support of BILH’s patients, caregivers, andadministrative team.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or related fields required.
• Experience:
• 5 to 8 years of progressively increasing experience in healthcare finance or related field
•Experience with healthcare revenue related functions, such as net revenue, government reimbursement, revenue cycle preferred
• Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: finance, accounting, statistical analysis, and/or healthcare delivery systems.
• Must be able to handle multiple, complex tasks and priorities.
• Requires superior interpersonal skills to effectively supervise staff and communicate with all levels of management.
•Must be a highly self-motivated individual with the ability to function in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision and
direction
• Must have strong analytical skills.
• Must be able to effectively mentor staff and foster a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
•Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following software products and systems, including MS Office, HFS, EPIC,
and Crowe
