Practices clinically in gynecology, and gender care and provides care to students, faculty, and staff at the University of Minnesota and others eligible for care. Partners and collaborates with other areas at Boynton to improve access to gynecologic and gender care services. Develops and implements a plan that aligns with Boynton's values and strategic plan to improve access and utilization of these services by reducing barriers and by providing culturally and trauma responsive services. Clinical: Administrative time 80%:20% Detailed Job Responsibilities: Policy Development and Implementation: Assist the Co-directors of Primary Care and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in maintaining organization accreditation Stay up-to-date regarding Boynton Health (BH) and University of Minnesota regulations and advise gynecology and gender care clinic staff on them. Review needs for programs at BH and the University and make appropriate recommendations. Assist with policy development and implementation as assigned. Personnel: Manage, support and direct the gynecology and gender care practitioners Encourage professional development and coordination of continuing medical education Initiate and review quality assurance plan evaluations of the gynecology and gender care practitioners Ensure compliance with University and Boynton personnel policies. Review and attest to clinical and procedural privileges of clinicians providing gynecology and gender care services. Complete annual performance appraisals for direct reports. Identify subject matter experts to provide CME sessions and other professional development sessions that build providers' capacity to provide culturally responsive and trauma informed approaches to gynecologic and gender care patients Operations: Collaborate with operations in the dyad role to implement clinical protocols. Partner with operations to assure timely and responsive gynecology and gender care services at BH Serve as clinical champion of needed gynecologic and gender care services in collaboration with the University community Meet with leaders of other clinical disciplines to formulate clinical policies and disseminate information for problem solving. Act as a liaison between gynecology and gender care clinicians and nursing, x-ray, lab, administration and all of primary care Collaborate and meet with the Director of Operations and Chief of Finance regarding budget and finance, Provide coverage for the Co-directors of Primary Care when needed Serve on committees as assigned by the Assistant Vice Provost, Executive Director, or the Vice President of Student Affairs Planning and Evaluation: Work with the Co-directors of Primary Care and the CMO to develop long and short term objectives for gynecology and gender care services at BH. Partner with the Director of Public Health to design and implement campus level and population level specific interventions such as STI screenings at locations outside of Boynton to reduce stigma and improve access to gynecologic and gender care. Partner with other service lines such as mental health and counseling to support barrier free, integrated access to services. Conduct: Be helpful, respectful, approachable and team oriented; build strong working relationships Clinical Responsibilities: The scope of practice for this position may include, but is not limited to the following for which privileges are granted annually, according to state law. Recruiting, training and certifying competencies for PC providers who provide gender care services and gynecologic procedural care (IUD and contraceptive implant insertions; colposcopy; biopsies, etc...) Serving as primary reviewer of pap smear resul s for the clinic, in consultation with specialists, when indicated. Serve as primary reviewer of colposcopy findings for the clinic, in consultation with specialists, when indicated. Taking patient histories. Performing physical examinations including well visits/examinations. Interpreting and evaluating patient data. Ordering or performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures which may include, but are not limited to biopsy, minor surgery and wound care. Prescribing, administering, dispensing prescription and nonprescription medications and medical devices. Diagnosing and treating illnesses, infectious diseases, minor trauma, and chronic conditions or diseases. Making patient referrals to other providers within Boynton and outside of Boynton to facilitate treatment plans. Providing full spectrum contraceptive services. Educating patients on health promotion, disease prevention, current treatments, importance of patient compliance, and answering patient questions. Arranging follow-up to review test results with patients, via appointments, phone calls, letters, or secure messages. Consult with other physicians and/or health care professionals as needed to confirm difficult diagnosis and facilitate appropriate treatment plans. Other responsibilities as needed Perform gynecology procedures including but not limited to: Colposcopy Vaginal and Vulvar Biopsies Incision and Drainage of Bartholin gland abscesses Contraceptive implants and IUDs Care for female and transgender patients Professional Duties: Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional growth by involvement in peer review and the review of protocols and procedures; participate in continuing education. Serve and communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds, communities, and cultures. Assist in mentoring and supervision of the clinical work of nursing staff and PC clinicians who provide gender care and procedural gynecologic services. Demonstrated capacity to provide care to culturally diverse populations that are reflective of the Twin Cities campus environment. Qualifications Required Qualifications: M.D./ D.O. degree or NP/DNP/PA-C degree plus Licensure for Practice of Medicine in Minnesota. Board Certification or Board-Eligible in OB/GYN or Family Medicine with a sub-specialty in Women's Health or Women's Health Specialist NP/DNP or PA-C. Training and/or experience in outpatient practice Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion 0.8 - 1.0 FTE appointment Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience in an administrative and/or supervisory capacity in a healthcare facility Experience working with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
