JOB REQUIREMENTS: POSITION PURPOSE Provide the Company with technicaland supervisory expertise necessary to operate, control, and monitorgeneration resources on the bulk electric system on a 24-hour basiswithin the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) market.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Deals with complexities of theinterconnected electric system operations, supervises meeting customerdemands for electric energy, and ensures stability and reliability ofthe bulk electric system as it pertains to Balancing Authorityfunctions. Has the authority during emergency conditions to take ordirect timely and appropriate real-time actions, has the authority toshed firm load to prevent or alleviate System Operating LimitInterconnection or Reliability Operating Limit violations, complies withall applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)Reliability Standards as well as any Midwest Reliability Organization(MRO) Standards, and ensures the safety of personnel and equipmentinvolved in all areas of generation control. Has direct and immediateimpact on corporate budgets approximating \$100 million annually, profitmargins, as well as the Company\'s investment in generation facilities.Ensures compliance with all NERC Reliability Standards, MRO, MISO, PJM,and all other regulatory policies and procedures including the authorityto shed firm load. Is responsible for establishing written proceduresused internally to ensure compliance. This responsibility requires theemployee to be aware of and understand the Reliability Standards andpolicies and procedures that affect this position. As the BalancingAuthority, is responsible for and has the authority to implementreal-time actions to ensure the stable and reliable operation of theBulk Power System. These actions may be performed at the sole discretionof the Manager Generation Operations without obtaining approval fromhigher-level personnel. Directly supervises Generation OperationsSupervisor (GOS) (Level I, II, III) positions. Supervises monitoring ofcritical aspects of electric energy systems including electric systemload, frequency and voltage, MISO electric area control error, electricenergy flow from system generation and interconnections, and weatherforecasts/changes that can have an impact on system operations as aBalancing Authority. Directs and coordinates various operations whileensuring the safety of Company personnel, equipment, and the generalpublic. These may be critical or potentially hazardous functionsrequired for the electric system including electric generation unitcontrol for safety, stability, and optimization. Coordinates allgenerator testing to ensure compliance with MISO procedures and NERCStandards.
