About this job
The Manager of Logistics Freight Payment oversees the processes responsible for approx. $200M+ in Transport spend and revenue reconciliation. The Manager is responsible for the third-party freight payment vendor relationship along with direct reports. This role is critical to ensure the accuracy and accountability for vendor payment, internal audit compliance, transport accruals, revenue reconciliation & freight spend management. The Manager will develop and grow internal & external partnerships, manage escalations to resolution, and ensure the overall financial health of CarMax Logistics.

What you will do – Essential Responsibilities
Freight Payment & Reconciliation Management
Build the annual budget for all of Logistics, partnering internally and with field operations
Own relationship with 3rd party freight payment provider including contract negotiations in partnership with Strategic Sourcing, strategic projects, & all payment-related programming
Own relationship with 3rd party carrier Accounting leads
Ensure payment processing remains compliant with internal audit controls
Own accrual management in collaboration with internal Accounting partners to ensure overall financial health of Logistics financials
Represent payment and claims interests in carrier sourcing decisions – provide financial outcomes and recommendations to influence field operations decisions
Oversee payment processing to reduce risk of delayed payments to ensure Operations continuity
Lead initiatives to reduce invoice processing fees including maximum carrier enrollment in AutoPay programming and minimal manual processing
Manage freight payment associate(s) & process according to internal performance KPIs
Build out full suite of freight payment performance reporting
Resolve escalations in a timely manner while also ensuring practices of limited financial exposure are followed across team
Build and refine process to financially manage carrier base according to agreed-upon contract performance metrics
Revenue & Process Improvement
Ensure the full reconciliation process runs on all revenue programs
Build & sustain programs for continuous improvement in payment and revenue reconciliation
Associate Development and Team Leadership
Leads a team of Analysts to support the overall goals of Logistics
Creates a culture of effective and efficient collaboration
Supports associate and talent management goals through feedback, talent assessment, and associate development opportunities
Purpose of the role
The Manager, Logistics Freight Payment owns the freight spend and revenue reconciliation for our $200M+ Logistics operation. The manager will directly manage and develop team member(s) to independently manage financials in a timely, audit-aligned manner while also limiting financial exposure of our Logistics budget.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree Required
5+ years general business experience
2+ years Accounting experience required
Supply Chain experience preferred
1yr+ people management experience preferred
1yr+ Project management experience required
Proficiency with Tableau, SQL, Python, preferred
Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Richmond, VA Home Office and have a Hybrid work arrangement.
