Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of GBM Operations & Finance in Hong Kong, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Provide supervisory support to the Senior Manager in the effective administration of the GWO and GBMO functions, accountable for the timely and quality production of regulatory returns and financial reports.
Accountabilities
Lead partner with GWO Centres of Excellence, supporting the global operations model, building a strong network across GWO and multiple departments within the firm such as Product Control, Compliance, Audit and Technology
Demonstrates strong understanding of front to back flows, risk, and P&L, supporting the local GWO and Finance functions on regulatory, tax and MIS reporting.
Works directly with Singapore Operations team to ensure any operation issues are addressed locally
Gatekeeper for communication between KYC/static data teams and Corporate Loans/Treasury for new and existing Clients, supporting onboarding and settlement processes.
Ensures all locally developed internal controls and procedures are in accordance with established bank policies and procedures and are followed.
Partners with technology & product development on business initiatives to enhance client experience or mitigate risk
Analyses and improves processes and procedures with an eye for reducing risk and eliminating repetitive effort
Understands the business needs to assist in the implementation of a sound operational structure in Hong Kong that optimizes resources, knowledge, and experience in servicing customers.
Oversees end to end process of deposit, withdrawal and safekeep of physical certificates on behalf of clients. This includes monthly reconciliation, processing of stamp duty payment and any registrar related activities.
Coordinates any local specific regulatory, audit or business requirements with responsible stakeholders.
Other ad-hoc duties as assigned including in Finance and Administration teams.
Ensures all locally developed internal controls and procedures are in accordance with established bank policies and procedures and are followed.
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information
Education: Post-secondary degree in finance related discipline.
Work Experience: At least 8 years’ experience in an operations or financial reporting role at a Financial Institution
