About Manager Business Development NA - Startups Eco-System and Corporate Development

  Job Description

  The individual in this role focuses on startup ecosystem in NA. He/she brings a thorough understanding of the mechanics of startup ecosystem, their players including venture capital firms, startups, academia etc. He/she continues to expand the ecosystem of partners for co-pace, through his/her personal network of world renowned thought leaders and strong network in startup ecosystem.

  • Position co-pace to be highly visible to startups so as to enable strong and high quality deal flow for partnering and Venture Investments.

  • Participate in and host vibrant and trend-setting events, which enrich Continental's network and outreach to relevant stakeholders globally.

  • Establish a profound overview of the startup organizations and ecosystem trends.

  • Help build and maintain connections to partners such as Universities (Top notch faculty), Institutes, Governments, Venture Capital firms (Both top tier as well as topic specific boutique firms), Corporates (C-levels and decision makers) etc.

  • Having relationships with VC funds along with other internal stakeholders. Tap into the strategic services from VC funds to extract value for both co-pace and rest of Continental.

  • Have strong network with the top notch leaders in the respective fields and regions, and continuously and rapidly expand the network for the benefit of co-pace and Continental.

  • Use external communications networks in various ecosystems to further increase the brand image of Continental and attract talent as well as startups and entrepreneurs to engage with Continental.

  • Co-develop with Communications strategies, plans and initiatives to support efficient communications with all relevant external stakeholders to ensure the topics are known, transparent and aligned to gain maximum efficiency.

  • Conducts data driven analysis on the strategic topics of relevance to Continental, in Autonomous, Mobility Services, Automotive, Industry 4.0, Deep Tech etc. Prioritizes strategic focus areas for co-pace that add up to the overall corporate strategy. Leverage both internal and external thought leaders, including, Academia, Startup Ecosystems, VCs etc., to conduct the deep dive on various topics.

  • Envisions future product roadmaps and architectures based on market trends and high value pain points. Identify gaps for the various building blocks, prioritize which problems to solve and develop an focus thesis on how to fill the gaps including possible Build vs Buy analysis. Conduct a tech/business model due diligence on which startups to fill the gaps, and conduct tech/business model due diligence before positioning them internally.

  • Periodically share strategic insights by closely tracking eco-system trends in collaboration with other key stakeholders in the company. Present the insights and focus thesis to senior leadership at Continental.

  Relocation will not be provided for this position.

  Qualifications

  Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan (Remote options available across the US except the California Bay Area)

  - Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Business with a good Engineering background

  - Minimum 7 years relevant professional experience

  - Minimum 3 years in Startup eco-system experience

  - Good technical knowledge, business experience and analytical capabilities

  -Lead technical discussions with internal/external customers

  -Intercultural/International experience - sensitivity for diverse and ethnic cultures, including Corporate vs Startup culture
