Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) is seeking a Business Development Professional to oversee the development and growth of their Malaysia book of business. In this role, you play a crucial role in in identifying and pursuing growth opportunities in the financial services, and corporate sector, building relationships, and driving revenue and market expansion in Malaysia. This role involves market analysis, relationship-building, and revenue generation through effective sales and business development initiatives.
GLG BDM is responsible for
Market Research and Analysis:Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitor activities.Analyze the local business environment, regulatory changes, and economic conditions.Monitor industry news and developments to stay informed.Business Strategy:
Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy tailored to the Malaysia market.Identify key areas for growth and propose strategic initiatives.Create and manage a budget for business development activities.Client Relationship Management:Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.Identify potential clients and initiate contact through various means.Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions.Sales and Revenue Generation:Collaborate with the sales team across SEA and APAC to achieve revenue targets.Develop and implement sales plans, including pricing strategies and sales pitches.Negotiate contracts and agreements.Partnership and Alliances:Identify potential strategic partners and alliances to expand the business.Negotiate partnership agreements and collaboration opportunities.Marketing and Branding:Collaborate with marketing teams to promote the company's services in the local market.Oversee the development of marketing materials and campaigns.Reporting and Analysis:Prepare regular reports on business development activities, outcomes, and ROI.Analyze the effectiveness of various strategies and adjust them as needed.Compliance and Regulation:Ensure that all business development activities comply with local regulations and industry standards.Stay updated on relevant compliance requirements.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree or higher from a Top tier undergraduate institutionMinimum 3 years of account management or sales experience, ideally in B2B sales (e.g., market research, consulting)Proven experience in selling into public sectors, Government Linked Investment Companies (GLICs), and Government Linked Companies (GLCs)Consultative selling approach with experience selling and growing subscription-based relationshipsDemonstrated entrepreneurial skills, with a clear focus on Sales, revenue growth and business profitOutstanding communication skills, collaborating approach and team playerExperience interacting with senior executives within Corporates in the regionThe ability to build strong and lasting relationships with key decision makers in client firms and possesses a passion for problem-solving and delighting clientsResults-oriented focus and track record of business growth /turnaroundProven ability to manage teams and create followershipAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive, client service-oriented work environmentExperience with leading teams and success in global/cross-functional collaboration in a metrics-driven, entrepreneurial, and challenging environmentAbility to work well independently and be self-motivatedSuperior verbal and written communication skills and a passion for persuasion, especially around complicated and intellectually challenging issuesA demonstrated ability to read and understand peopleThe highest level of integrity and professionalismA demonstrated ability and initiative to handle increasing responsibility over time
