Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Conversion/Ice Manager and the generaldirection of the Operations Manager of Auxiliary Facilities, this positionperforms maintenance of ice arena facilities and repair of ice resurfacingequipment. This position also performs snow melting and hockey goalpositioning per the client's requests. Additionally, this position assistsin services completed by the Building Service Specialist position.
Essential Functions
In addition to following the University of Denver's policies andprocedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ability to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidaysas dictated by event and ice arena schedule.Ability to take and follow direction in a client service-based environment.The ability to manage details in the delivery of quality ice resurfacingwithin rigid time constraints.Maintain the ice resurfacing equipment to meet high-quality iceexpectations.Able to replace machine blades that weigh approximately 50 pounds.Able to use power and manual edgers to perform regular ice maintenance.Able to do preventive maintenance on the resurfacing equipment such as checkfluids and performing as-needed repairs.Able to use hand and power tools.Assist in game operations for NCAA Division I competition.Perform in large crowds in the assemble facility under rigid timeconstraints for the performance of ice resurfacing operations.Assist other personnel, including but not limited to, the conversioncrew, maintenance crew, and event staff.Maintain a clean and safe work area.Provide a high level of customer service to clients and guests.Picks up material needed for repairs or alterations.Report to work early in the morning, weekends, and holidays for snowremoval, when necessary. Removes snow from walks, steps, ramps, andparking lots by power equipment or shovel.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate with varying levels of administrative personnelverbally and in writing relative to the condition of the ice and the dispatchof assigned responsibility. Ability to fill out simple forms and log essentialdata relative to the condition of the ice.
Ability to perform simple equations including addition, subtraction,multiplication, division, and the functional use of fractions related toservicing equipment, measuring surfaces, measuring depth, quantifyingmaterial, and ordering supplies.Detailed, but easy-to-follow procedures. Daily priorities are establishedand frequently monitored by the supervisor. The employee responds tosituations requiring immediate attention.Knowledge of standardized work routines and the ability to followoral/written instructions involving a number of steps. Knowledge of alltypes of equipment and related OSHA and EPA regulations and ability toeffectively communicate regulations to others.Required Qualifications
A high school diploma or G.E.D.
Must possess a valid Colorado Drivers License and be insurable underUniversity guidelines.To adequately perform this job, individuals must have the ability to workvariable shifts, weekends, and holidays.Pass a pre-employment physical exam, and lift 100 lbs.Preferred Qualifications
One year of experience working within an ice arena and familiarity with iceresurfacing operations.
Familiar working with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)software, including WebTMA.Working Environment
While performing the duties o this job, the employee regularly works inand around conditions found in ice arenas. The employee frequently works nearmoving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humidconditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee isoccasionally exposed to fumes airborne particles, and extreme heat.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loudUnexpected interruptions often occur, and stress level is moderate to high.Physical Activities
Work associated with the position involves standing and walking for extendedperiods, bending, climbing, crouching, sitting, and many repetitivemotions. Required to lift, push, pull, and lower objects in excess of100 pounds. This job also requires one to work with hand and power equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability toadjust focus. The employee must work from high ladders, scaffolding, manlifts, and catwalksWork ScheduleMonday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
