Job Description:
This position is located in Quincy, Florida at the University of Florida, North Florida Research and Education Center. Establishes and conducts a preventive maintenance program for equipment (tractors, combines, etc.), vehicles, irrigation pivots, irrigation motors/wells, and other specialized research equipment. Develops maintenance procedures and trains staff to follow them/ supervise assigned staff and identifies training opportunities Coordinates with unit leaders and Farm Managers at Quincy to accomplish duties. Assists in other farm operations as needed, including planting, spraying, harvesting, etc.
Provide leadership in maintaining and repairing all NFREC-Quincy pivots and wells used for research and extension. Work with the Farm Manager and Farm Supervisor to ensure that irrigation is working and well maintained for minimum down-time.
Maintain and supervise the maintenance of rolling stock including tractors, pickup trucks, trailers, cars including on-site repair and preventative maintenance.
Maintain specialized research equipment (planters, harvesters, etc.) including on-site repair and preventative maintenance.
Build or fabricate apparatuses for research purposes.
Supervises OPS and Teams employees to accomplish parts of the duties above.
Provide farm operations support as needed, including planting, spraying, harvesting, etc.
Expected Salary:
23.94 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience and ability in personnel supervision. Individual should be able to work independently with general, not daily, supervision. Should have good organizational and managerial skills related to personnel and processes. Should be able to complete projects in a timely manner and be committed to customer service. Should be able to work in a team and communicate (both orally and written) effectively with individuals in the work group.
