Description
This role will be actively involved in the training of packaging personnel and the support of projects based on priorities. Each project must be aligned with the Packaging Engineering and Packaging objectives. These projects may be functional area specific or cross functional in nature. This person will be actively involved in identifying, leading, implementing and tracking process improvement projects. This individual will be responsible for working with and communicating with Maintenance, Packaging, and Packaging Engineering colleagues in process improvement activities. Further, this person will serve as trainer and evaluator (OJT Training performance) of skills within packaging for bargaining unit personnel. Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as floor level support person with regard to operator training, process and equipment trouble shooting, and process optimization and improvement.
Identify opportunities, prioritize and implement strategic solutions aligned with Departmental Metrics, Business Objectives, Packaging Engineering and Packaging strategies.
Support process improvement initiatives/teams. Identify and formulate tactical solutions to assigned areas of focus. Incorporate specific knowledge of process improvement (i.e. 5-step method for problem solving, six sigma, lean manufacturing, etc.) in working with project teams.
Assist in day-to-day troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, and preventive maintenance work related to production & utility equipment in Packaging with regard to increasing the overall reliability and efficiency of equipment.
Communicate identified opportunities, current project(s), implemented improvements and benefits pertaining to Packaging. Promote involvement and attain buy in by applying BPE Principles in working through identified improvement initiatives and mentoring coworkers through the process of continuous improvement.
Assist with planning, scheduling, and performance of job task analysis.
Review & update OJT Training curricula as necessary.
Team training
S hift: 2 nd Shift Monday - Thursday 3:00PM – 1:30 AM
Requirements
High school diploma required.
Five (5) years of automation specialist experience in Packaging Operations.
Possesses a high level of experience in competencies related to the packaging of pharmaceutical products; including application of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), semi-automated and automated packaging systems, process controls, documentation, and training competencies.
Three (3) years of general knowledge of electronics, electrical wiring, mechanical systems, communications equipment, PLSs, PLCs, servos, lasers, thermal transfer printers, vision systems, check weighers, labelers, cartoners, case packers, shrink bundlers, and other types of packaging technologies and equipment.
A working knowledge with five (5) years of cGMP, EU and OSHA Part 11 guidelines as they pertain to implementing process improvements on packaging & other production equipment.
Knowledge of machine tools.
Demonstrates the ability to follow systematic continuous improvement methodologies and the willingness to identify, define, and implement process improvements.
Demonstrates the willingness to learn and comply with any/all departmental and company SOP’s.
Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel.
Experience in MAPICS, SAP, Maximo and/ or INFOR CMMS is preferred but not necessary.
Must be able to readily learn and quickly become proficient in all software applications utilized for packaging equipment and operations.
Must be proficient in basic math skills equivalent to the 12th grade.
