  Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Force Readiness Command (FORCECOM), Aviation Technical Training Center (ATTC), Performance Systems Branch, Elizabeth City, NC. Responsibilities This position serves as a Visual Information Specialist (Videographer) responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and producing a wide range of visual materials to convey information, promote public awareness, and support the agency's communication efforts. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Designing, laying out and preparing a wide variety of general and technical illustrations of aircraft, aircraft equipment, and major aircraft components. Photographing a variety of subject matter including aircraft, aircraft equipment, and major aircraft components. Producing video productions of a highly technical content for the training of Aviation "A" and "C" school students and welcome aboard productions for ATTC. Operating HIS, VHS, and digital cameras, audio and video tape recorders, non-linear digital editing equipment, and preparing lighting, sets, and backgrounds as necessary for studio and remote productions. Maintaining an audio/visual (A/V) loan pool, issuing and assisting customers with equipment as required. Requirements Conditions of Employment Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service. U.S. Citizenship is required. May be required to fly on Coast Guard aircraft. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Qualifications Applicants for the GS-11 must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: successfully operating videographer equipment to yield productions that meet the needs of the customer; designing, laying out, and preparing a wide variety of general and technical illustrations or photographs to reproduce the appearance of specific objects or pieces of technical equipment; producing photographic slides, posters, brochures, and manuals with speed and accuracy necessitated by delivery timelines. OR Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. OR Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement.
