　　Work schedule: Full-time; 8hrs

　　Job responsibilities: Reports to the mailroom supervisor and is responsible for clerical tasks, systems and procedures related to the mailroom in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.

　　Essential Functions:

　　Inspect and seal all inmate mail within required timeframes.

　　Maintain files on department records, cards, forms, and correspondence sent, received, and/or requiring further action.

　　Sort, locate, and process all incoming offender mail and publications daily

　　Distribute and transfer mail for all staff and offenders.

　　Log and inspect all offender packages.

　　Record outgoing certified mail.

　　Operate postage machine, offender email system and other mailroom equipment.

　　Log all incoming identifiable legal, special and media mail.

　　Maintain assigned company records, deal effectively with the public, and inmate questions.

　　Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.

　　Maintain accountability of inmates and property, adhere to safety practices

　　Education and Experience Requirements:

　　High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year related experience, including word processing or computer data entry experience required. Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
