  About our Team

  A lean team of super-smart, super-hard working, local and remote colleagues who collaborate closely to support the RELX businesses, globally, on all matters related to indirect tax. The indirect tax team is supported by a Tax Operations team, located in 2 offshore locations.

  We have heavily invested in specific tax technology solutions (tax determination software, data analytics & compliance tools) to support delivery models, along with non-tax specific technology tools, such as Alteryx, Tableau, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) & Microsoft power Apps & BI to ensure efficient tax operations, globally.

  We use an outsource provider to support our compliance obligations globally, but also manage compliances internally in key jurisdictions, in line with our agreed Target operating model.

  About the Role

  As a Senior Manager, you will be involved with a huge variety of indirect tax aspects covering the EMEA region across the RELX enterprise. Providing VAT technical support on business-critical matters, in conjunction with the wider RELX ITX team. Including advice in response to queries, and proactively advice upon identification of any indirect tax opportunities and/or risk creating occurrences.

  You will be working with external specialist tax advisors and colleagues in a collaborative, global team.

  Responsibilities

  Monitoring developments in indirect tax and other relevant tax regulations.

  Maintaining relationships and providing advice to key stakeholders and business units.

  Identifying indirect tax opportunities and/or risk creating occurrences, documenting / reporting these and supporting the mitigation / remediation of such risks across the enterprise.

  Informing and implementation of non-established VAT and other Indirect Tax processes and policies.

  Support the use of tax technology systems (eTax – internal tax rules and calculation engine).

  Providing advisory and support from an EMEA VAT perspective for divisional projects and RELX wide projects.

  Supervising compliance and reviewing VAT, ensuring that all indirect tax compliance responsibilities of the Dutch RELX entities are managed, maintained and statutory deadlines are met. (The c ompliance activity will mostly be undertaken by a RELX Group team located in India, with support from Tax Operations and the global VAT compliance outsourcer).

  Supervising the implementation of VAT compliance processes for any new non-established VAT registrations of UK, NL and US companies in EMEA region and transition of compliance processes to Tax Operations and/or the global VAT compliance outsourcer.

  Requirements

  Extensive post-qualification experience in a large multi-national enterprise and/or similar broad experience in VAT work with a major practice .

  Compliance experience.

  Experience in a similar business (ecommerce/cloud/tech).

  Have good communication skills in business English and be able to build relationships. with customers and stakeholders.

  Have great analytical skills and have a real eye for detail and accuracy.

  Enjoy collaborating with teams to solve problems and implement effective solutions.

  Have excellent organizational skills and be able to adapt and flex to deliver multiple priorities.

  Have ACA, ACCA, or CTA, or good equivalent experience indirect tax.
