Job Summary
Under the direction of a radiologist, performs magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) examinations at a technical level not requiring constantsupervision. Performs a variety of technical imaging studies. Independentjudgment, technical skills, and commitment to patient safety areconsidered requisite professional characteristics for individuals assuming theposition of a MRI technologist.

MRI Technologist II: Level II is intended for candidates with 3+ years ofexperience and independent, high-level competence with cardiac & breastbiopsy MRI. Denver Health is invested in its team members, and we will helpyou get here if you do not yet qualify! On the job training is available toqualify for this level.
Essential Functions:
Performs high quality MRI imaging studies by selecting specific softwareparameters that will produce a quality image for use by physicians in theirdetermination of a diagnosis. Obtains protocols from radiologists and complieswith image sequences defined in protocols.Perform Cardiac MRI protocols.Attain and maintain competence in performing high-quality cardiac MRI doneindependently, including but not limited to Cardiac MRI obtained forinfarction, valve disease, and structural abnormalities.Perform Breast MRI Biopsies.Attain and maintain competence in performing high-quality cardiac MRI doneindependently, including but not limited to Cardiac MRI obtained forinfarction, valve disease, and structural abnormalities.Performs high quality MRI imaging studies by selecting specific softwareparameters that will produce a quality image for use by physicians in theirdetermination of a diagnosis. Obtains written protocol from the radiologistand complies with sequences defined in the protocol.Prepares and administers contrast media for patient examinations according toradiologists' direction. Technologist must complete contrast questionnaires.Technologist must ensure that the IV catheter, if used, is of appropriatetype, size, and in the correct location for contrast administration bymeans of an injector. Technologists must test injector with saline prior tocontrast injection.Performs screening process of patients, Denver Health staff, and, asnecessary, visitors. As part of the screening process, reviews the MRIScreening Form and does not place the patient in the MRI scanning room untilverification can be confirmed that contraindications do not exist which wouldpreclude the patient from having an MRI examination.Ensures patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by followingappropriate patient care guidelines to include use of 2 patient identifiers.Operates, on a day-to-day basis, PACS applications to include: archivingactivities; image auto-routing; and prefetching tasks; image qualityassurance and other related activities.Assists in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking,and performing inventory checks on those medical supplies utilized whenperforming general radiographic examinations.Ensures that the MR department is appropriately equipped and maintained in aclean, safe, and hazard-free manner.Attends and participates in departmental huddles, general intradepartmentalmeetings, and Radiology's inservices. (10%)Effec ively interacts with Denver Health's PACS system through compliancewith data entry, image post-processing, image archiving tasks, imagequality assurance, and other related user interface activities. (10%)Prepares and administers contrast media for patient examinations according toradiologists' direction. Technologist must ensure that the IV catheter, ifused, is of appropriate type, size, and in the correct location forcontrast administration. If an injector is used, then the MRI technologistmust test the injector with saline prior to contrast injection. MRItechnologists must be certified in CPR at all times in order to safely mediatecontrast reactions. (10%)Screens patients, Denver Health employees, and, visitors in order toguard the safety of: (1) those individuals undergoing an MRIexamination; or (2) persons entering the MRI service venue. As part ofthe patient screening process, reviews the MRI Screening Form with thepatient and does not allow the patient to enter the MRI scanning room untilverification can be confirmed that contraindications do not exist which wouldpreclude the patient from having an MRI examination. (10%)Ensures patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by followingappropriate patient care guidelines to include use of 2 patient identifiers.Transports patients to and from the Department of Radiology, as needed, toprevent patient flow delays. (10%)Assists in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking,and performing inventory checks on those medical supplies utilized whenperforming MRI examinations.
